What material is the shield generally made of?
The shielding cover mainly uses stainless steel, white copper, brass, tinplate, etc.
Stainless steel: good shielding effect, high strength and moderate price; but it is difficult to apply tin (it is almost impossible to apply tin without surface treatment, and it is improved after nickel plating, but it is still not conducive to the patch).
Copper-Nickel-Zinc Alloy : It has good shielding effect, is soft and easy to deform. The price is generally about 30% more expensive than stainless steel. It is easy to be tinned. At present, the lower shielding sheets of TC3000 and TC3600 are made of white copper.
Brass: slightly less effective shielding.
Tinplate: The shielding effect is slightly worse, but the tin is good and the price is cheap
The difference in the material of the shielding cover leads to the difference in the price of the product. Generally speaking, stainless steel and copper are slightly more expensive and tinplate shields are slightly cheaper.
Commonly used materials for shields
At present, the most used material for the shields we produce is white copper, which is a copper-based alloy with nickel as the main alloying element, and is named because most of them are silver-white. Copper and nickel can dissolve in each other infinitely to form a continuous solid copper-added nickel solution. Can significantly improve corrosion resistance, strength, hardness, resistance, and reduce the temperature coefficient of resistivity.
Among copper alloys, cupronickel is widely used in shipbuilding, petroleum, chemical industry, electric power, precision instruments, medical equipment and other departments as corrosion-resistant structural parts due to its excellent corrosion resistance and easy plastic processing and welding. Some cupronickel also has special electrical properties, which can be used to make resistive elements, thermocouple materials and compensation wires.
But there is a disadvantage that the surface will turn yellow after reflow soldering. A high temperature-resistant white copper (280 degrees Celsius) can be selected, which is no problem after reflow soldering, but it will also turn yellow when reworked. Low resistance to salt spray test. However, compared with other materials, white copper is more suitable for shielding.
